Table 1 The goals of GDRRT

From: New, goal-directed approach to renal replacement therapy improves acute kidney injury treatment after cardiac surgery

Solute

BUN ≤ 30 mmol/L

Volume

Urine output ≥ 0.5 ml/kg/h, 24 h fluid output ≥ 24 h fluid intake in volume overload patients, controlled acute pulmonary edema, reduction of peripheral edema, hematocrit ≥ 30%

Electrolyte and pH

Electrolyte and acid-base parameters normal or near normal: 3.5 < potassium ≤ 5.5 mmol, 7.25 ≤ pH < 7.45

Hemodynamics

MAP ≥ 65 mmHg without vasoactive drugs, CVP ≥ 8–12 mmHg, SaO2 ≥ 93%

  1. BUN = blood urea nitrogen, MAP = mean arterial pressure, CVP = central venous pressure, SaO2 = saturation level of oxygen in hemoglobin.
