a Computed tomography showed a pseudoaneurysm and abscess in the atherosclerotic lesion of the ascending aorta (Case 1). b There was a large purulent pericardial effusion. The abscess extended to just above the main trunk of the left coronary artery, and the aorta was “punched out”. The cultures of both pericardial effusion and resected aorta were positive for methicillin-sensitive Staphyrococcus aureus.”
