Criterion

Threshold for cut-off

Risk

Serum Creatinine: 1.5-fold increase

GFR: 25% decrease

Urine Output: less than 0.5 ml/kg/hour for 6 hours

Injury

Serum Creatinine: 2-fold increase

GFR: 50% decrease

Urine Output: less than 0.5 ml/kg/hour for 12 hours

Failure

Serum Creatinine: 3-fold increase

GFR: 70% decrease

Urine Output: less than 0.3 ml/kg/hour for 24 hours or anuria for 12 hours

Loss

Complete loss of kidney function for more than 4 weeks

ESRD

Complete loss of kidney function for more than 3 months
